Monty is a New Zealand falcon reintroduced to the Awatere vineyards, Marlborough. Capable of flying at speeds over 100 km/h and catching prey larger than itself, the Kārearea is one of New Zealand’s most spectacular birds. One of 38 species of falcon worldwide, kārearea are endemic only to New Zealand. Although a threatened species in NZ, the kārearea are often seen flying around Marlborough vineyards, where prey is plentiful.
