Sumatran Tiger in Pastel, 40x60cm
ORIGINAL SOLD
This is Oz, an 8yo Sumatran Tiger, residing at Auckland Zoo. I spent hours simply sitting watching and photographing the 3 Sumatrans they have there, so incredibly beautiful!!!
Sumatran (Indonesian) tigers are the smallest of all the tiger species in the world. They actually have webbed feet!! that helps them swim great distances to catch their prey. Sadly, their numbers are dwindling due to loss of habitat and poaching. Today it is estimated there are only 350- 400 Sumatran tigers left in the wild. Shows how important the breeding programmes in these Zoos are, and how lucky we are to get to see them!!
