A simple study of our beautiful native Tui. I liked the unusual pose of this reference photo, I felt he was staring me down the barrel of the camera.

The reference photo was taken at Zealandia Eco Park, such a beautiful place to visit if you are in the region. You often see tuis and bellbirds up very close on the honey feeders. This is where I manage to get a lot of my closeup reference photography.

Currently being exhibited at the "Jewels of Zealandia" exhibition, Wellington, until November 28th 2020
